WordPress Fireworks Plugin
This plugin shows fireworks on your WordPress blog. I think it's pretty stable by now, although the images still aren't that nice. If you're a designer and you like this plugin, feel free to submit nicer explosions or rockets. You should be able to see the fireworks on this page.
The plugin is similar to my snow plugin and shares some code.
You can download it from the WordPress plugin page.
WordPress plugin demos are disabled as I don't use WordPress on this site any more.
Hehe, good idea!
This can be implemented on a single post, right?
Yes. It's only active on this page of my blog.
It looks fantastic... well... in Firefox 3. Unfortunately, just like the snow plugin, it doesn't work for me in Internet Explorer 7 (could never get snow plugin to work in IE even with latest version). And yes, I do have in my footer.php file. :(
My 2 friends also experienced the above problem... so I guess I'm not the only one.
Well, anyway... great plugin. Thank you for sharing.
That's really odd, it works very well here in IE. There was a bug up to version 0.7.0 that prevented the plugin from working in IE6... which specific IE7 version are you running?
Well, it could be the theme I'm using "K2". Or perhaps a conflicting plugin (I'll troubleshoot further - activate/deactivate).
I've updated to the late 0.7.0 "SNOW PLUGIN"... works fine in Firefox... but now I get this error in IE version 7.0.5730.13 (I didn't get this before):
Line: 3
Char: 2
Error: Object expected
Code: 0
URL: http://fruityoaty.com/
Like I said, I'll troubleshoot on my end... and get back to you if I have more information (i.e. plugin conflict).
Thank you.
Awesome! What a great plugin. Too bad animated PNG files aren't really available instead of GIF. Is it possible to incorporate something like this with a transparent Flash file?
I want the fireworks plugin! you do amazing work! (But, and maybe I'm overlooking the obvious...where do I download the plugin? I'm not seeing it on this page!)
Oh, you're right :-D I added a link.
Great plugin man, thank you!
Worked for my blog until the last 1 or 2 updates. Now it doesn't show up anymore. Not on FF3, not on IEy and not on Safari... Shame...
Hm, did you add the shadowbox effect recently? You could try to disable it.
Thank you!

Hello,
i didn't figure out how to attach it to main page only...
playing with URI gives me fireworks everywhere or nowhere at all.... And i want it to be greeting people at the main page only...
Hi Deviacium, it is very likely that it's not possible (yet) to add the effect only to the main page. I will look into this issue soon.
I have this crude fireworks script I got from about.com. Would you have any suggestions on how one could put your fireworks plugin so that it shows up on a page that's not part of wordpress?
Well, look at the source of this page. There's a part in the <head> section (include javascript) and in the foot (include images). You'll probably have to edit the paths to the files in the HTML markup and the javascript file to make it work.
Hi!
When critizing something, you should point out the positive sides first before you name the things that could be improved.
Well, let's go on to the things that could be improved.
When the animation starts I get a nuclear age flashback. The rockets look like artillery grenades. You could simply leave them out because they destroy any poetic contents of "fireworks".
The center of the fireworks explosion is offset to the position where the grenades disappear. Both images - the rocket and the much larger explosion - seem to be positioned top left, and not centered.
The 1994 style gifs look totally croppy: The visual appearance of the fireworks of several gifs is cropped!
You don't mean it serious, do you?
Hi Uwe, at the top of this page you can read that other images are welcome. I am not a designer, I write code. Just send me your pictures.
I guess I'll look into the rocket/explosion offset somewhen before new year.
Ah, i was so after this plugin n when i found this page i dont see the demo working on my browsers(both firefox 3.6.8 and IE 8.0)
:(
Hm, works fine for me in FF and Chrome. You have to wait half a second or a second to see the effect.
On Firefox(on IE it never shows anything), The Rockets Goes upward but disappear immediately, They never explode to give us the firework effect. plus the effect comes to an end after 22 seconds.
Works for me in IE8 just fine. The effect times out on purpose, that time is configurable as well.
Btw, I don't really plan to support this plugin any further. It's still available for downloads and should be secure, but I don't plan to release any updates.
But you can hire me if you need something done for Wordpress, PHP, JavaScript etc. :-)
Wow! I'm seeing this for the first time...excellent job...
